LEAVE NO TRACE

Leaving No Trace is one of our festival’s most valued pillars. Please help us return to Depew next year by keeping our new home and its surrounding areas clean. To “Leave No Trace” is not just about being responsible and keeping our corner of paradise clean. It is much more than just that:

it’s our ethic about the planet as a whole.

To help you figure out how to be a conscious eco-warrior, This page is loaded with useful tips and guidelines on how to leave no trace at Lost But Found, and beyond. Please read it carefully! Thank you for your efforts and your interest in protecting the environment!

KEY GUIDELINES

  • The simplest way to reduce waste is to PLAN AHEAD and ONLY pack what you will really need
  • DISPOSE of all WASTE PROPERLY in their DESIGNATED RECEPTACLES. PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACKED IN
  • BE CAUTIOUS with campfires, never leave them unattended, and minimize their impacts
  • Don’t disturb nature or remove any wild animals. Please LEAVE whatever you find, and BE CONSIDERATE

REDUCING WASTE

  • REMOVE WRAPPERS FROM FOOD PACKAGING AHEAD OF TIME AT HOME TO LESSEN THE AMOUNT OF NEEDLESS TRASH AT THE FESTIVAL
  • ONLY BRING WHAT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, AND MAKE SURE YOU PORTION YOUR FOOD AHEAD OF TIME. MAKE SURE YOU ONLY BRING WHAT YOU WILL EAT! COORDINATE WITH YOUR CAMPMATES TO MINIMIZE FOOD WASTE AS WELL. IF YOU BRING OR MAKE TOO MUCH FOOD, INVITE YOUR NEIGHBORS TO EAT WITH YOU! BE SURE YOU RESTOCK ON ICE (OR BRING DRY ICE) TO KEEP ALL OF YOUR REFRIGERATED AND FROZEN FOOD ITEMS EDIBLE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DON’T BRING MORE THAN ABOUT TWO DAYS WORTH OF FRESH BREAD, FRUIT, OR VEGGIES, AS THEY WILL LIKELY NOT SURVIVE PAST THOSE DAYS, SO PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY AND BRING SUFFICIENT NON-PERISHABLE ITEMS. ANOTHER GOOD SUGGESTION WOULD BE TO BRING SOME EXTRA CASH ON-HAND AND GRABBING A DELICIOUS MEAL OR TWO FROM ONE OF OUR MANY TASTY LOCAL FOOD VENDORS. THEY WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR SUPPORT!

DISPOSING OF WASTE

  • PLAN ON PACKING OUT ALL OF YOUR TRASH FROM YOUR CAMPSITE, SO BE SURE TO BRING PLENTY OF TRASH BAGS. HAVING THEM IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT COLORS  CAN BE VERY USEFUL FOR QUICKLY HELPING YOU DISTINGUISHING WHAT GOES WHERE. JUST BE SURE YOU ARE LETTING ALL OF YOUR CAMPMATES KNOW WHICH ONE IS WHICH, OF COURSE!
  • THERE WILL BE PLENTY OF TRASH RECEPTACLES THROUGHOUT THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS. PLEASE BE SURE TO THROW AWAY YOUR TRASH INTO THE PROPER BINS! TO HELP  YOU WITH THIS, WE WILL BE PUTTING UP SIGNS SHOWING VISUAL EXAMPLES OF WHAT KIND OF WASTE GOES INTO WHICH CONTAINER
  • PAY ATTENTION TO MOOP! AS YOU WALK TO AND FROM YOUR CAMPSITE, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MOOP (MATTER OUT OF PLACE) – SUCH AS EMPTY CANS AND OTHER WASTE, AND PLEASE PICK SOME UP IF YOU FIND IT AND DISPOSE OF IT PROPERLY. THANK YOU FOR HELPING US KEEP OUR NEW HOME CLEAN! WE APPRECIATE YOU!
  • TAKE A WALK AROUND YOUR CAMPSITE AT LEAST ONCE A DAY TO PICK UP ANY TRASH THAT MIGHT BE LAYING AROUND! THIS WILL SAVE YOU WORK LATER!
  • BE SURE TO STAY AWARE AND ON TOP OF SMALL TRASH PARTICLES AS WELL. ALL MATTER OUT OF PLACE, MATTERS.
  • TAKE EVERYTHING HOME: DON’T LEAVE BEHIND BROKEN TENTS, CHAIRS, ANYTHING! EVEN IF YOU NO LONGER HAVE USE FOR IT, PLEASE TAKE IT WITH YOU AND DISPOSE OF IT
  • PLEASE REMEMBER TO WASH ALL OF YOUR DISHES AT LEAST 200 FEET AWAY FROM ALL BODIES OF WATER AND TO ONLY MAKE USE OF BIODEGRADABLE SOAP
